Dear Cubs and Parents,
Welcome back to 1st Lismore Cubs for the new year 2014. We have a great program organised this term, with a lot of outdoors to take advantage of the light evenings, while they last.
Starting with next week, Tuesday the 11th of February, we are holding a "Bring a Friend" Night. This will be held at the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly Park off Kadina Street in Goonellabah. The entrance is nearer the Oliver Avenue end of Kadina Street. Cubs are invited to bring a friend (of similar age) along so that they can show them what Cub Scouts is about, and have some fun together. There is no expectation that these friends should become a cub, but some of them may like to after seeing what it is like. Please find attached the A1, if you did not receive one last night at cubs. Parents of cubs, and parents of their friends will have to each fill out a form and bring it along on the night. As long as the A1 is filled out and handed in, for Bring a Friend Night, the friend’s parents do not have to stay, though they are welcome to if they wish. N.B. we start at 6pm this night.
The following week, Tuesday the 18th of February, we will be heading over to Casino. This week we are commemorating the birthdays of the Founders of Scouting and Guiding, Lord Baden Powell and his wife, Olave, both born on the 22nd Feb. We will visit the Mafeking Lamp, which is in the middle of Casino, on the corner of Barker and Walkers Streets, and hear some of the ‘B-P’ story. After that we will take a ride on the Casino mini-rail. Please wear or bring mosquito repellent as there can be mozzies there in the evenings. Transport will be by parents. If you wish to car pool, please talk to other parents or message via email or facebook. Again, we will be meeting there at 6pm. Remember to bring your A1, attached above.
The week after that, the 25th February, we will return to the hall for a night of fun and games – 6.20 for 6.30 parade.
See you there! Please let me know your intentions for cubs this year as we have kids waiting to join. Have a good week,
Kim.
