Cub Scout Leadership Course 18-19 June 2011
Three Lismore Cub Scouts - Jasmine Clarke, Lauren Whitmey and Nicholas Eggler - travelled to Brunswick Heads to attend the Cub Scouts Leadership course with 22 other cub scouts from around the district. They learnt many practical things about being a sixer or seconder, including how to guide your six, how to be a good example and how to iron and roll your scarf! It was a very full day, followed by campfire singing and skits, then to bed in warm sleeping bags in chilly tents as the temperature slipped down to 7 degrees. Brrr!

Lismore Cubs visit Caroona Nursing Home
14 June 2011: Fourteen cubs presented a professional show of songs, skits and games for residents at Caroona nursing home recently. Opening with traditional Scouting songs, "Fire's Burning" and "Ging Gang Gooli", the cubs got a big surprise when a few of the residents started enthusiastically joining in, "I was a Brownie, a Girl Guide, a Ranger and then a Guide Leader", said June Sheaffe of Brunswick Heads. "The guides nicknamed me 'Dale'. We had so much fun and it's lovely to see so many young people still enjoying scouts and guides". Stan Warr, ex-Scout Leader in Lismore also had much to share. "We learnt and did so many different things that we wouldn't have done if it wasn't for scouts. Thanks for coming along and sharing your enthusiasm and joyfullness with us. I'm sure you children will get as much out of it as we did".
Thanks to Caroona for having us visit and we'll see you again soon! |

Cuboree was Mad! by Chris Matiussi-Pimm
Challenge valley was awesome. I loved the mud fights best. Under the stars we slept well in our tents. I helped pack up five! Bus trip was fun but boring, but without the bus we would not have got there. Old friends and new friends – I had so much fun playing with them. Robbie was the best friend I met at camp. Eating : breakfast, lunch and dinner were delicious. Excitement : all the activities where exciting, but the mud was the best. |
